East Columbus Christian Church
Missions, 2008
East Columbus Christian Church is committed to making a difference in the world by revealing the love of Christ to others, through our work and donations to various international and local missions.
“Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples." (1 Chronicles 16:23-24) International Causes
All God’s Children: Founded in 1997 by Jim and Denise Hayes, All God's Children provides physical, emotional and spiritual support to families and children coping with HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe.
Due to political problems and turmoil in the area, the children’s home and mission hospital that were developed by this organization were sadly closed. Our prayers go out to everyone who worked with this organization.
Heifer International: Heifer’s mission is to work with communities worldwide to end hunger and poverty, and to care for the earth. Heifer does this by providing appropriate livestock, training, and related services to small-scale farmers and communities worldwide. The animals and training the Heifer provides to various families help the families improve their quality of life.
Watoto: Watoto’s mission consists of placing parentless children in Uganda in homes where love, care, spiritual discipleship, and educational needs are provided.
Watoto currently operates 3 children’s villages and cares for over 1500 children. The villages include over 130 individual homes, each accommodating 8 children and a house mother. They also contain a complete school system, a medical clinic, a church/community center, an agricultural project providing food, a clean water source, and electrical power. The result is a self-sustaining village that serves the children while providing employment for women and teachers, and steady jobs for laborers.
East Columbus Christian Church sponsors Alex Nabanoba, born June 11, 1992, and Andrew Kato, born September 29, 1997. The children and the church have been corresponding with each other since 2003. With our donations, words of encouragement, and prayers, we are working together to make a difference in Uganda.
World Vision: World Vision is a non-profit Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes – not just the symptoms - of poverty and injustice. These projects include sponsorship of children, health care, education, economic development, agricultural training, livestock, food and water, and emergency aid.
